Where Paws Meet Purpose, and Passion Drives Every Lesson

In the heart of Southwest Oklahoma, nestled between the windswept plains and hardworking communities, there’s a place where tails are becoming confident, humans learn to lead with compassion, and every dog—no matter their past—is given a chance to thrive.

Welcome to Southwest Oklahoma K9 Training Academy (SWOK K9), a beacon of hope, healing, and transformation for dogs and their people.

Who’s Behind the Leash?

At the helm of SWOK K9 is Crystal with grit, grace, and an unshakeable calling to serve both humans and canines. The founder is not only an expert dog trainer—she is also the driving force behind SWOK Search & Rescue, a vital resource for emergency K9 deployments and missing persons cases.

Her passion doesn’t stop at four paws. She's a fierce advocate for community education—channeling this mission through both canine and human rescue. Her empathy and experience are what make SWOK K9 not just a training school, but a movement.

Training With Purpose: More Than Sit, Stay, & Heel

At SWOK K9, training goes far beyond basic obedience. The academy provides a full spectrum of services for dogs of every background, temperament, and need:

Board & Train Programs

Perfect for busy families or pups needing immersive support, these programs offer structured, intensive training during a stay with the trainer. Dogs are taught to build habits—not just tricks—through repetition, real-life situations, and structured schedules. When your dog returns home, you’ll get hands-on guidance to keep up the progress.

 Private Lessons

Ideal for owners who want to be actively involved in the process, private sessions offer one-on-one coaching tailored to your dog’s needs—whether it’s pulling on leash, reactivity, or just learning to chill on command.

 AKC STAR Puppy Classes

For young pups under one year, these classes lay the foundation for a lifetime of success: socialization, basic commands, manners, and confidence-building. STAR stands for Socialization, Training, Activity, and Responsibility—making it the pawfect first step for any future service or therapy dog.

Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Prep & Testing

The CGC program promotes responsible dog ownership and well-mannered pups. SWOK K9 prepares both dog and handler for this nationally recognized test, which is often the gateway to therapy and service dog programs.

 Service Dog & Task Training

Need more than a companion? SWOK K9 supports those who require service animals with customized training plans, focusing on public access skills, task work, and handler support—whether it’s for mobility, PTSD, or other disabilities.

Behavior Modification & Aggression Rehab

Some dogs carry trauma, fear, or deeply ingrained behavioral issues. With calm, clear, and consistent leadership, SWOK K9 gently rewrites their story. This isn’t quick-fix training—it’s rehabilitation based on trust and relationship.

Her Style: Firm, Fair, and Fueled by Connection

Training at SWOK K9 is rooted in balanced methodology—a tailored mix of positive reinforcement and structured correction. But what truly sets her apart is intention. Every session is guided by:

Clear Communication – Dogs thrive when they understand what’s being asked of them. Clarity reduces stress and builds confidence.

Consistency – Training doesn’t end in class. Owners are coached to maintain expectations at home, so dogs aren’t confused by mixed messages.

Connection Over Control – The end goal isn’t just obedience—it’s a bond. A dog who feels secure and seen is a dog who can be truly trained

Pressure & Release – Especially in leash work and reactivity cases, she uses pressure-and-release techniques to help dogs make better choices. This method builds independence and calm decision-making.

Real-World Scenarios – Training sessions often happen in stores, parks, or public settings to ensure dogs perform in the environments they’ll live in—not just the classroom.

Beyond the Leash: Advocacy and Action

What makes SWOK K9 even more powerful is its tie to SWOK Search & Rescue—a nonprofit team of trained handlers and K9s specializing in finding missing persons. Whether it’s wilderness, disaster recovery, or accident victims, this organization plays a crucial role in community safety.

The founder is also a boots-on-the-ground advocate for educating the public, partnering with survivors, and reminding everyone that rescue doesn’t stop at the kennel door.

Why It Matters

Every dog deserves a chance. Every handler deserves a roadmap. And every community needs champions who rise to the occasion—whether it’s helping a dog learn to trust again or finding a missing loved one.

Southwest Oklahoma K9 Training Academy is more than a school. It’s a sanctuary. A second chance. A place where obedience meets opportunity, and tails wag with purpose.

So, whether your pup needs manners, your heart needs healing, or your family wants to get involved in something bigger, SWOK K9 is ready to help you unleash the very best.
